Catching up

About a month ago, I went up to the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation area to check out the Bald Eagles. Very cool trip. While there, we also had the chance to visit an elk and bison prairie where they have a herd of bison and a herd of elk. This was pretty fantastic, as we were able to see both herds, extremely close up.  Like, I could have walked 10 yards and petted them.  If it were allowed.  And not an idiot move.

I took a ton of pictures.  Sometime like 500.  None of them are too fantastic.  The explanation is simple - this was the first time I had used my new camera and lens, so I was basically unfamiliar with all the settings.  That said, still got some cool photos, if not very technically awesome.

First views of the bison herd:

In addition to the bison and elk, there's a lot of other wildlife in the prairie.  Here's a big hawk that was far up in a tree.

I like this one, just wish it had more detail.

Some more bison:

Finally, a teaser of the the elk (you can see my car off in the background, we were right at the exit from the prairie):

There are a ton more to post, I just don't feel like staring at this screen any more....
