Cade's Cove Bike Ride

Got up super-early this morning to take advantage of Cade's Cove twice-weekly closure to motorized traffic (Wed. and Sun. morning until 10:00). Like, really early:

It was a little lighter once I got to my friend's place:

The drive to the Cove isn't too bad in my opinion - no more than 75 minutes, and a pretty straight shot up Lamar Alexander Parkway in Maryville. There were some ... issues with the GPS. The Crazy Australian Lady wanted me to go backwards, as far as I could tell. Needless to say, she was ignored, I went the sensible way, and arrived 10 or so minutes before she predicted.

Didn't actually take too many pictures once we got there - wanted to make sure we made it to the end before the cars started coming through. Guess I didn't need to worry though - after getting there around 07:45, we were through by 09:35 or so. The Garmin says it was about 90 minutes for a little under 11 miles. Not at all bad for a fairly leisurely ride early in the morning. What few pictures I did take were taken with my point-and-shoot:

All in all, a great ride. In general, the other bicyclists were pretty considerate, and there sure were a ton of them. I'd say we saw in excess of 50, and very possibly 100 other folks either bicycling or walking the loop. Unfortunately, no bear sightings, although there were a ton of deer.
