First up is some weird bug I saw at the Arboretum. It was maybe an inch long, and had recently captured the other, darker bug in the photo.
So that was cool. But the coolest thing that afternoon arboretum was the preponderance of deer! I think I saw at least 5 different individuals. I saw the first group of two pretty early on - they were on the path and ran pretty quickly up into the trees. Got a couple of nice pics, although the ISO was pretty high on them.
This guy was in the big clearing by the shelter, running pretty quickly away:
I say guy, but I guess it's probably a doe. Not sure if the bucks have dropped their antlers yet, although I'm guessing not since hunting season is still in full swing.
This lovely lady was near the magnolia grove, if I recall correctly.
Finally, these two were spotted as I got back to the access road, across the gully and heading back to the shelter meadow.
I think the shots with the deer looking straight at me are quite cool. I try to ignore the fact that they're probably just terrified of me.
There were a couple of other opportunities, but the photos didn't come out. There was one point that there was a group of 3 deer travelling in a frightening pack! Very cool.
