After the emu-watching at Monkey Mia, J., V., we left and went to the entrance of Francois Peron National Park. R. was on a journey somewhere up there in 4WD vehicles. Unfortunately, the rest of us had been unable to get tickets, which is why we were at Monkey Mia.
There's a little former sheep station near the entrance with a short trail and a couple of exhibits. We wandered around there for a little bit. V. was pretty happy to see this:

After checking out the windmill, we went down the trail. At the end was just some metal siding, and on the other side of the siding was ... well, nothing really. But, just as I turned away, THIS!

That lizard was at at least meter long. Totally awesome, and my first big Aussie lizard.
At the sheep station, there's also a small clearing with a hot spring or something. We wandered briefly, and then, THIS!

This gal (guy?) was smaller, maybe 700cm or something like that. Still very cool! According to J., it may have been a Perentie. I couldn't help taking a bunch of shots of it, since it was close and seemed generally unworried by our presence. That said, I still kept a good distance away.

Seeing the emus and other birds that morning was cool, but getting to see the reptiles close up really made that a great day.
