After branching to the Sinks trail, there were at least some Hepatica and one or two Bloodroot in bloom. I met a couple of ladies who told me that it looked like "fairyland" down in the Sinks, but I didn't quite believe them, given the lack of flowers up until that point. Of course, this is what I was met by once I got down there:
I guess it's hard to make out unless you zoom in, but the forest floor was pretty much covered with Spring Beauties, for the most part. Some other flowers showed up as well, like this lone bloodroot.
Just a couple of other photos tonight - I'm tired and not going through all 200 shots I took. This is one of the nicer Spring Beauty shots. Keep in mind that this particular bloom is probably no more than 1.5cm wide.
There were also some Phlox out. I don't particularly like how the flowers themselves photograph, but I thought this proto-flower looked pretty cool in its wrapped state. The color is a lot more vibrant and purple than most of the Phlox that had bloomed.
Alright, that's it for now.
