Playing with a 300m f/4

A friend at work kindly loaned me his baby for the weekend, a Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4.   It's pretty sweet!

I went to Ijams this morning,  and actually didn't come back with too many keepers.  I think I was still getting used to the lens, it it *might* require some adjustments with my camera body.  In particular, I don't like how well it was focusing on birds.   Anyway,  a few initial samples:

I was really pleased with this one, except for those couple of stamens in front of the moth!  Why won't nature cooperate?? :)
